LCD TVs offer many great advantages over a regular TV, The price difference between smaller flat-panel HD ready LCDs and ED-ready LCDs is reasonably(very) low, so you are better off purchasing a HDTV set. These lower resolution LCD Televisions won’t be ready to accept Hi-D signals, so that the picture will not look any better than regular analog Television . And tiny HD-ready LCD Televisions can be discovered for $500 or less, which is inexpensive enough that there actually isn’t much to save on a non HD LCD Television .
Almost all modern LCD Televisions on the market today are capable of showing the newest HDTV and DTV signals, and most may also be used as a computer-monitor, by connecting them to a DVI or VGA signal.
Try to shop around for the best deal. You can check out electronic stores for their online flyers and go into the stores for possible clearance and floor model sales. In the store you may also be able to talk down the price of the TV.

Toshiba 40XF550U is a full-featured HD LCD TV that’s practically all screen. This 40.0″ (measured diagonally) model combines Toshiba’s Super Narrow Bezel design with cutting-edge technology to deliver a beautiful picture in an equally beautiful package.
With Full HD, there’s no need to scale down a 1080 signal: Full HD creates the pinnacle in picture quality. ColorBurst technology expands the number of available colors and improves the color accuracy. This significantly improves both color purity and color saturation. The combination of ColorBurst and superior video processing creates colors that are more vibrant, more natural, and more enjoyable. The advanced Anti-Blur system virtually eliminates motion blur without decreasing image brightness, or adding flicker. Images are now crisp and clear regardless of image motion.
StableSound audio technology eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels
With flat panel TVs now being the standard display for livingroom movie and TV viewing, consumers are torn between what they should buy today. On one hand they have the plasma models which offer exceptional contrast and smooth video playback, but cannot compete with LCD TV’s superior color reproduction and energy efficiency. But on the other hand, LCD TVs until recently couldn’t offer the smooth playback needed to view action and sports without ghosting, motion blur and artifacts. So what is a consumer to do? You could say they were damned if they chose plasma due to its power consumption that is close to double that of an equivalent sized LCD model, but without it, they could fully take advantage of any viewing experience that involved fast movements (sports, action, etc..).
In fact, this has been the only thing holding LCD TVs back from dominating the market…..until now. Lately all major LCD TV manufacturers have been releasing 120hz models which essentially refresh the screen twice as fast as the 60hz the eye is capable of processing and thus leading to smooth ghost-free viewing experience.
